"Return your pen to its place, for all who will take up the pen, will die by the pen."

I've worked as an artist in the game industry since graduating art school in 1995. I create art for amazing games played by millions of people but the truth is -- no young artist ever said, "When I grow up I want to be one of hundreds of people working on a shared vision."
A few years ago I got a fountain pen and fell in love with the magical experience of ink soaking into paper. For the first time in my life I truly enjoyed drawing. I found my medium. I found my process: pen & ink, on paper.
With my own work there's no shared vision of game development, no art director standing over my shoulder, no rules... Just drawing my own way, whatever I want.
Some of my work is painted with real watercolor, but often I use digital color to bring my line art to life. Whatever's right for the art.
These days I live in Seattle area with my wife, three boys, and my little girl. I spend every minute I can building up a strange world of characters, creatures, and places. Occasionally I take on illustration work if I think it's an interesting project... but mostly I'm building up a world that I may do something bigger with later on.
Or not! Maybe it'll all live here and this will be my life's work. Either way, as long I'm putting pen to paper I'm happy and I'll do that until the day I die.
